THRIVE Dance Company is the first and only dance group at UC Berkeley solely devoted to contemporary dance. Founded in the Fall of 2010, we are excited to see our presence on campus, in Berkeley, and throughout the Bay Area continue to grow. In Spring 2011 THRIVE made its debut on the UC Berkeley campus by presenting our first Benefit Concert in Pauley Ballroom West on the UC Berkeley campus on May 3, 2011 in support of HITOTSU relief group for Japan. With 5 all-company routines, 7 guest performances, and 200 guests, the concert raised $1000+ in donations for HITOTSU. Thanks to the support of the community and the passion of our dancers, we now are able to hold our own choreography showcase at the end of each semester, featuring choreography by our own dancers in a more intimate, informal setting. Thrive also performs in other on-campus showcases, and in events throughout the Bay Area, including the pre-show at Prelude NorCal Urban Dance Competition. We also hold auditions and workshops each semester that are open to all UC Berkeley Students.
