MY STORY

Stella Adelman often steps in for teachers such as Elizabeth Soberanes, Tika Morgan, Ryan Mead, and Susana Arenas. She teaches a range of dances from the Caribbean including Salsa Suelta, Cuban Folkloric, and workout classes such as World Dance Workout. San Francisco born and raised, Stella Adelman holds a Bachelors in World Arts and Cultures and a Masters in Education. She also studied at El Instituto Superior del Arte (Havana, Cuba) before moving to New York to teach middle school. Adelman is currently the Program Director at Dance Mission Theater, an artist-driven space rooted in intersectional feminism and dedicated to equity. Adelman co-produced the CubaCaribe Festival from 2007-2010 and has worked with Carnaval San Francisco since 2014. As a performer and dancer, Adelman has had the honor of working with the legendary Rhodessa Jones and Krissy Keefer, and highly-celebrated Cuban, Haitian, and Brazilian companies, including Aguas da Bahia, Arenas Dance Company, Alayo Dance Company, Las Que Son Son, Rara Tou Limen, and Latin Dance Grooves, among others. She has recently expanded her dance repertoire on and off stilts with Daring Arts Movement. She served on the Isadora Duncan Dance Awards committee 2017 - 2019.
