Mary Carbonara began teaching dance in the Bay Area in 1988 following a years of technical and pedagogical training from master teachers Lynn Simonson in New York. For 20 years, Mary has taught locally, nationally, and internationally, including New York, Chicago, Tallahassee, Tokyo and Calcutta. She has taught on the faculties of San Francisco Ballet School, East Carolina University, San Jose State University, UC Davis Saint Mary’s College, Mills College, ODC School and Shawl Anderson. Mary is the Founder and Artistic Director of Mary Carbonara Dances, and is formerly a member of Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Robert Moses Kin, Project Bandaloop, and Liss Fain Dance.
