Contemporary Class Description Mary Carbonara’s classes are based on the pedagogical methods of Master Teacher Lynn Simonson, with whom she trained for nearly a decade, and incorporates aspects of the Cunningham and Horton Techniques. What’s holding you back? Get clear about your placement, get serious about your strength and get moving. Whether you’re looking to rehabilitate, re-align or re-ignite, get to this class. BIO: Mary Carbonara began teaching dance in the Bay Area in 1988 following a years of technical and pedagogical training from master teachers Lynn Simonson in New York. For 20 years, Mary has taught locally, nationally, and internationally, including New York, Chicago, Tallahassee, Tokyo and Calcutta. She has taught on the faculties of San Francisco Ballet School, East Carolina University, San Jose State University, UC Davis Saint Mary’s College, Mills College, ODC School and Shawl Anderson. Mary is the Founder and Artistic Director of Mary Carbonara Dances, and is formerly a member of Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Robert Moses Kin, Project Bandaloop, and Liss Fain Dance.

Register at linesballet.org. Online classes are streamed live via Zoom app. Modern classes at LINES Dance Center pull form a long lineage of dance pioneers and visionaries. From Duncan, Graham, Limón, Dunham, Cunningham and others, Modern dance at LINES merges theory, approach, and language while focusing on intent and expression. Classes explore fundamental concepts of modern technique through anatomical awareness, alignment, spatial awareness, increased strength and developing sensibilities addressing movement quality.
