Kayumanggi, the Tagalog word meaning "brown-skinned" is the Filipino arts organization at Stanford. "Kayu" aims to provide opportunities not only to showcase Filipino-American culture, but to actively challenge, explore and evolve it through the mediums of dance, art, music, and drama - with a focus on ethnic and historical education. We are open to all and no experience is necessary. We hope to foster an inclusiveness and openness not just among Filipino-Americans, but with the Stanford and Greater Bay Area communities. We host various arts workshops and perform/present for various events throughout the year, which culminates in our annual Spring Pilipino Cultural Night (PCN): a grand show filled with dance, music, acapella, and spoken word, all framed by a dramatic skit that addresses and explores aspects of the Filipino-American experience and identity.
