Theater Jazz

About this class
Icon_ionic-ios-arrow-back Copy 4

Gio’s class is all about storytelling and working towards improving your technique. His movements blend the contemporary and classical aesthetics of performing arts to tell the most compelling stories, utilizing music that is appropriate for the lessons of the class, while focusing on intention and entertainment. Class will focus on the “performance” aspect of theatre by encouraging students to find their inner “storyteller.” Class will include a typical jazz warm-up highlighting isolation exercises, conditioning and an across the floor combination. Emphasis is placed on execution and understanding of the movement. He believes in movement that means something, emotes a feeling, tells a story, and strives to help his students reach that level of understanding. Plenty of dance time is allotted to perform a combination set to a musical theatre song. Students leaves class with the sense that they held nothing back. They danced their heart out and left it on the “stage.” They told their story, whatever it happened to be that day.
