Deborah Valoma is an artist, researcher, writer, and professor at California College of the Arts where her specialized field is textile history and theory. Deborah has been dancing Cuban popular and folkloric genres since 2000 and has performed under the direction of Ramon Ramos Alayo and Yismari Ramos Tellez. Currently she is dancing with Susana Arenas Dance Company, for whom she also designs costumes and graphics. She has performed at the Yemanja, CubaCaribe, Salsa Rueda, and Ethnic Dance Festivals and at venues throughout the Bay Area such as Yoshi's, BrasArte, Ashkenaz, Dance Mission Theater, Cowell Theater, and the War Memorial Opera House. She is also the Artistic Director of the Brazilian samba reggae band Batata San Francisco.
