Contemporary - Intermediate

About this class
Icon_ionic-ios-arrow-back Copy 4

Intermediate Contemporary (release-based) is the next step to Christine Cali’s Beginning Release class (Sundays, 11:30am-1:00pm). At the intermediate level, we will deepen our exploration of mobile alignment techniques (traveling/dancing with your spine), start connecting longer and more complex dance phrases, and continue to examine how the body organizes & continually reorganizes itself in space and time as a multi-centric, functional and ever-changing human vessel. This dance technique class will draw on somatic-based concepts from a variety of deeply investigated body practices including; yoga, Hapkido (Korean Martial Art), Qi gong, Body-Mind centering, Pilates and Skinner Releasing Techniques. In a supportive environment, we will soar and fly; awakening the body, mind and spirit; leading to articulately-curious, full-bodied and dynamic dancing!

Release - Beginning

About this class
Icon_ionic-ios-arrow-back Copy 4

Starting from the floor up, Christine’s class will highlight and investigate the 'basics' of release technique. Through floor-work, improvisation and choreography, Christine will identify clear concepts of 'release' and make it both accessible and functional for students. Excellent for complete beginners, ballet students wanting to add another dimension to their dancing and seasoned dancers wanting to hone their skills, deepen their practice and add layers of integrity. Leave feeling rejuvenated, organized and inspired!
