MY STORY

Casey joins the Arenas Dance Company with 4.5 years of prior Afrocuban experience, studying for 3.5 years under Victor Alexander in Chicago and Reynaldo Gonzalez in Boston, and culminating in the last year with Susana Arenas. In each of Susana's classes, Casey finds a deepening connection with the Orishas, and feels excited and challenged to explore the game of rumba, the sassiness of Makuta, and the drama of salsa. Following connections between traditional West African music and dance, in which Casey got her start, into Afrocuban traditions has opened up a world of historical, cultural, and spiritual connections that continues to inform, intrigue, and inspire Casey's evolution as a dancer.
